HONEY CONE
THE NEW SINGLE
“HERE COMES THE RAIN AGAIN”
AVAILABLE NOW
November 16, 2024 – Honey Cone, the acclaimed hit-making group and members of the Soul Music Hall of Fame announce the release of “Here Comes the Rain Again,” their first new single in 50 years. Available now on all music platforms through DistroKid.
The beloved song written and first recorded by Annie Lennox and David A. Stewart (Eurythmics), is a gift from Honey Cone to their devoted fans and serves as an introduction to a whole new generation. The track was produced by PWP Works of Art, which consists of 7x Grammy Award-winner Neal H. Pogue, co-founder and bassist of Earth, Wind & Fire Verdine White and long-time, exclusive drummer for Earth, Wind & Fire John Paris.
“We are excited to release our first song in 50 years. We hope the audience takes away a true European flavor, as it's a Eurythmics cover, but can also feel the Honey Cone vibration on top. We are known for our dynamic harmonies and are thrilled to continue making timeless music,” says Shelly Clark, co-founder of Honey Cone.
Honey Cone was named the “Best Female Vocal Group” by the National Association of Television and Radio Announcers and was the first act to appear on the iconic series “Soul Train.” Their celebrated music catalog includes the Top 10 Billboard hits “One Monkey Don’t Stop No Show” and “Girls It Ain’t Easy,” as well as their #1 R&B/Pop “Stick-Up” and the worldwide smash “Want Ads.” Billboard magazine once declared, “Honey Cone’s ‘Want Ads’ accomplishes what every pop song should set out to do: finding a new, novel and fun way to present extremely relatable emotions and situations.”
With “Here Comes the Rain Again” they have done it again.
Honey Cone was formed in 1968 by lead singer, the late Edna Wright, formerly of the gospel group The Cogics, along with Carolyn Willis formerly of Bobby Sox & Blue Jeans and Shelly Clark of The Ikettes.
In 2014, Clark came together with Kathy Merrick and Wendy Smith-Bruné and re-established Honey Cone.
“Here Comes the Rain Again” marks the first single to feature the new lineup that recently performed sold-out shows
at Vibratos in Los Angeles and 54 Below in New York. On November 16, Honey Cone will headline the black-tie gala at the Waldorf Beverly Hills presented by It Could Be You Productions for A Soulful Heart Memorializing George Floyd, Jr., a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
